Fall 2011: Alice + Olivia

Alice + Olivia
This was a playful, fun collection. It was one of the first collections I decided to review because I loved last season's collection so much. I wasn't disappointed. I didn't have any close-up pictures, but I also loved the shoes in this collection. They were simple and elegant, unlike most of the shoes which are crazy and over-the-top this season.
Favorites:
This one reminded me of something Taylor Swift would wear at a concert. The model even looks like Taylor Swift!

A patchwork skirt, fringe top, and a long cardigan. All completely random, but the designer found a way to make them tie together effortlessly.

This one was so different from the rest, with the huge flowers, knee-high socks, and that cardigan. But like the earlier outfit, the designer was able to make them tie together.
What can I say? It's beautifully elegant.
The little sparkles on this dress are small embellishments on this dress. The effortlessness of the this piece is what I fell in love with.
The draping and design on this dress makes it look beautiful and sophisticated. The shoes add to the overall effect.

Least Favorites:
The colors clash, and the polka dots make the clothes look clowny.
I would like it, if instead of the pants there was a short skirt. Those pants just look awkward.

Fall 2011: Diane von Furstenberg and DKNY

I'd like to start by apologizing profusely, Fall 2011 is over and I've reviewed almost none of the collections compared to what is out there. I'll review the 6 collections I have left and finish the reviews for Fall 2011. For all of the collections of the season, click here. To make it up, I'll be doing a "Best of" post for Fall 2011, where I will display my favorite street-style, outerwear, long dress, mini dress, etc. of the season. Hopefully I can continue this trend for the rest of the seasons.

Diane von Furstenburg
This show was a bit of a let-down. It was my first time seeing a full collection of this iconic designer, and after hearing so many amazing things about her my expectations may have been a bit too high.
Favorites:
I don't have much to say for these. They were the ones I liked amidst... the others.

Least Favorites:
A lot of the dresses' necklines were very low, which is pretty, but they had nothing underneath! A look like this is very hip these days, but I think it's verging on slutty. They can wear a bra, they should wear something! A few examples:

There were also some loud, gaudy patterns that I didn't like:

DKNY
The street-style in this collection was amazing. I have gone through a complete change in my taste in style because of this collection and it's opened my eyes to the amazing world of street-style.
Favorites:
I'm starting out with my favorite look of the collection. I've said that for a lot of different looks in many different collections, but this one was easy to decide. Anyone can wear something like this, not just a model on the runway, so I think this is true street-style at its best.

These two looks are still street-style, but they go more on the fancy, feminine side of it. The dresses are adorable.
Least Favorites:
Are those clip-on plaid boxer shorts?! Do I even need to go on?! This is hands-down my least favorite piece of the entire collection.
Sometimes, the baggy sweater look can be cute. But this just looks plain bad. The shades clash, the sweater is thrown on messily, and it's definitely not runway-worthy.

The model is dressed up like a nerdy guy, and not in the geeky-chic, boyfriend jeans-clad girl way. Anyone who would wear something like this should go on the TV show: TLC's What Not To Wear.
Hot pink and bright orange are a deadly combination. It hurts my eyes to look at it.

Fall 2011: Derek Lam

Derek Lam
It was a very abstract show this season, with everything from long, flowy dresses to rock 'n' roll to street-style.
Favorites:

I had to put all of these amazing dresses because I couldn't decide which one was my favorite, they're all so unique and beautiful in their own ways:

Least Favorites:
I hate this pattern. Anywhere, on any dress, worn in any way, this pattern sickens me. Literally. I get dizzy when I see it because it's so disorienting and not appealing to the eye at all. And the bowling shoes certainly did not make this outfit any better.
Loose, plaid pajamas. On a runway. Seriously?

Fall 2011: Rebecca Minkoff, Victoria Beckham

Rebecca Minkoff
This collection is for the cool girls. The entire thing was so effortlessly chic and refreshing, and I loved the street-style. I'm trying to think of something to say about this collection that I haven't said for others, but I can't think of anything. What can I say? I loved it.
Favorites:

This look is something I would definitely wear in the streets of New York.

A trend I definitely noticed in this collection was the tiny waist, this was repeated in many outfits.
This long, flowing dress was definitely my favorite. Although I'm a huge fan of the street-style in this collection, this dress was the last one and something completely different from the rest of the looks I had seen prior to it. Of course, the pattern was repeated, but when I saw this dress my jaw literally dropped.

Least Favorites:

This was a little too baggy compared to the stylish cinched waists that came after it. I also wasn't a fan of those boots!

Victoria Beckham
I'll start by saying that the makeup on these models made them look sleep-deprived, which doesn't make for a pretty picture at all. I also did not like what they were wearing on their heads, it looked like a swimming cap, which is in no way fashionable. On a good note, I loved the basic looks that made their way down the runway. There were all solid colors, like red, orange, yellow, plum, and neutrals. A few patterns were there, but the collection mostly had a minimal spin to it. I also saw a lot of tall boots and structured looks in this one.
Favorites:

Small patterns on the skirt, nothing too drastic.

Least Favorites:
Baggy snakeskin print with a low neckline and a tiny scarf... what was she thinking?
The first thing I thought of when I saw this dress was: TELETUBBIES! Enough said.
